My teenage years ?
“Spent most of my time working at Vacation Resorts.
At age 13, I was sitting in the Jazz club at the Peg Leg Bates Country Club next to the Legendary Mr. Peg Leg Bates and people would look at me and try to give me trouble, Lol.” This is my club kid and you are with me. You sit here and enjoy the show...

“Other weekends I would be over at the Pine Grove Dude Ranch
where I was a professional Photographer.”
“ If I didn’t take a good picture and sell it the next day in the Lobby then that picture wasn’t worth any money and that was my Family business. In Fact my Uncle still owns that business and my cousin is still a photographer there 30 years Later. He also lives in our Grandparents house. “ I had to grow up real fast ! Like my Grandmother.
“ Spent my Summers and Weekend Nights in those Night Clubs working side by side with the DJ’s... Had a lot of girlfriends during those years too. The Party Night Club Scene !
And a few of my cousins Lived in Brooklyn, Bensonhurst, 86th st.
So some people have been following me for a long time ! If you know what I mean.”

So what is this Mulberry St. The Musical about ?
“Do You Like The Sopranos !? Well, I Lived it... So I can write it ! You should read it.
It’s going to be performed on Broadway ! I don't know who or when...”

Why did I go back to college ?
“There really was no internet when I first started going to college in 1990.
I was Living in the Virgin Islands for a while...“ Caribbean Chronicles Vol 1. The Life of RUM. “

What about High School?
“ I graduated High School. But My High School is now closed.
And after it closed I decided to file suit in 2021 against my Catholic grade school and Catholic High School under the childrens victim act...” “Before the deadline.”
“Because schools should be a safe place for children and they really are not safe.”

You went back to college in your 40’s ?
“Yes, with my two children in High School... It was very difficult for me. But lead by example ! “

“ I took a one year Documentary Filmmaking class, a one year TV studio production class, screenplay writing, writing for radio and TV, Music soundtrack production, Theater production, Acting for teachers, Directed Poetry and Memoir Writing, to name a few... “

Did you get along with all your professors ?
“Most of them ! I actually dropped the English Memoir writing class after about 20 other students stopped going to that class. Then found it offered online at another school.. “

“ Loved my English 102 Poetry Proffesor. She reminded me of my grandmother.”
On the last day of classes she said that every author we studied this semester had one thing in common. They all committed suicide ! Then she pulled me aside and said that I was truely one of the great ones ! But my writings were very dark...
And She made me promise her that I would not kill myself.
“ Well, I’m still here ! “

Professor Camilo Rojas taught me alot about The Art of Storytelling. He once said to the class; Don’t worry about Darren’s camera work,
I can take anything he shoots and send it to Martin Scorsese.
“I guess having a dark room next to my bedroom growing up and spending all those years behind a camera paid off... “

And your French Professor ?
She said no two students are the same.
The poem Darren wrote; I will frame that poem and put it on the wall in my house. It is what Charles Baudelaire would write...Voila’!

“A few Years after that back to college experience I was walking through a Barnes and Noble bookstore in Daytona Beach Florida and saw a book cover; Z : A Novel of Zelda Fitzgerald by Anne Flower. I started reading it in the store and then bought the book;
A couple of months Later I was in south France at the Montpellier Mediterranean Film Festival... And in Paris...
I finished reading that book while I was in France. It was as if I was Magically Living that story ”

What about your 30’s ?
“ My 30’s... I moved to Orlando Florida in 2004 and my children got to visit Disney World and Universal Studios often. I worked inside the Magic Kingdom and Epcot center for a few years and that really expanded my imagination and my understanding of Business.
I Love Walt Disney World !
Hopefully some of my animated stories will be turned into Movies by Disney.

What am I doing for work now at age 50 ?

“ I’m doing exactly what my Doctors said I’m not supposed to be doing anymore.”
“Because I’ve got some serious injuries.”
“My L4 L5 T6 T7 T8 C2 and C3 would greatly appreciate it if you subscribed or made a Donation so that I could eventually just focus on writing stories.”

“I had two outpatient Nerve Block surgeries to my Neck and three years of Physical Therapy to say the least...”
“And numerous companies would not hire me because I’m injured”
However, I did not give up !
College Hunks hauling Junk and Moving put me back in the Driver's seat...
College Hunks ! as seen on Shark Tank and undercover Boss.

I pulled up to the office in south Daytona Beach Florida and said..
Hey, I got 7 years in college and no degree !
so that makes me qualified and I smiled and Laughed..
And the Manager said.. You Hired !
And I explained my injuries and I’m still working there !
It’s killing my arm, my back, my ribs, my neck but that's the hand I’ve been dealt..
There is an old southern saying... You stop moving, You get Hit...
And After I got injured on my Interstate Moving job I got rear ended twice in traffic...
So I’m going to keep it Moving !

One Last question.

“ Entertainment.”
Turn my books into Movies.
